§1 Introduction

Welcome to Maths Tutor ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Maths Tutor mobile application (com.prithi.maths_tutor), available on Google Play.

By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy. Please read it carefully.

§2 Information We Collect

Maths Tutor is built for learners of school age, so we collect only what's needed to run practice exams, track progress, and keep the leaderboard fair:

• Learning progress: XP, levels, badges, streaks, chapter/topic completion, and quiz scores, stored on your device via local app preferences.
• Leaderboard data: A display name/nickname and score you choose to submit, stored in our Firebase Firestore database, so it can be shown on the global leaderboard.
• Handwriting scans: If you use the handwriting-recognition scratchpad feature, images of your handwritten work are processed on-device using Google ML Kit to recognize digits and symbols. These images are not uploaded to our servers.
• Device and diagnostic information: Basic device identifiers, crash logs, and app performance data, used to fix bugs and keep the app stable.
• Advertising identifiers: If you use the free version of the app, Google AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads. See the "Advertising" section below.
• Purchase status: If you upgrade to Pro, your entitlement (paid/free) status is stored locally on your device and, where applicable, verified through the Google Play billing system.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or school details unless you voluntarily provide a nickname for the leaderboard.

§3 How We Use Information

Any information collected is used solely to:

• Track your practice progress, XP, badges, and streaks within the app
• Operate the optional global leaderboard
• Recognize handwritten answers in the scratchpad feature (processed on-device)
• Fix bugs and improve app stability and performance
• Serve and measure advertising for free-tier users
• Deliver features you've unlocked through a Pro purchase
• Comply with legal obligations

§4 Data Storage & Security

Most app data — including exam progress, XP, badges, and Pro entitlement status — is stored locally on your device using standard Android app-preferences storage.

Leaderboard nicknames and scores are stored in Google Firebase Firestore, a cloud database service, so that scores can be compared across users. We implement standard security measures to protect this data, though no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

§5 Advertising

The free version of Maths Tutor displays ads and rewarded-video ads (to unlock hints) using Google AdMob. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and usage data to show relevant ads and measure their performance, in accordance with Google's advertising policies.

Purchasing the Pro upgrade removes ads from the app.

§6 Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Google Play Services – app distribution, updates, and billing
• Firebase (Firestore & Crashlytics) – leaderboard storage and crash reporting
• Google ML Kit – on-device handwriting recognition
• Google AdMob – advertising (free tier only)

We do not sell or trade your data to third parties for marketing purposes.

§7 Children's Privacy

Maths Tutor is designed for students, including children, and is built to comply with applicable children's privacy laws. We do not knowingly collect personal information such as names, emails, or phone numbers from any user, including children under 13.

The optional leaderboard nickname should not contain a child's real name. Parents and guardians can disable ads and the leaderboard by upgrading to Pro, or by supervising the nickname chosen at first use.

§8 Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Clear all locally stored app data via your device's app settings
• Uninstall the app at any time to remove all locally stored data
• Request removal of a submitted leaderboard entry by contacting us
• Contact us with any privacy concerns or questions

§9 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
